Bridges launches on Vision Pro

When Apple launched the Vision Pro I was really excited to finally see their long rumored headset. I listened to lots of different podcasts where press got to talk about their 30 minute demos. Then as Apple launched the Vision Pro in February anyone was able to book a demo as long as they were close to an Apple Store. So I went in not knowing what to expect in the demo. I left both impressed and feeling like its hard to describe. But I knew that I wanted my apps to be a part of the platform.

Its super early days for the Vision Pro and the apps on it. Lots are made by 3rd party developers excited for the new platform. Lots of developers like me can’t really afford to buy one. But with Apple’s simulator and lot of determination and excitement I took the steps to see about bringing Bridges to visionOS.

Building things with SwiftUI and getting more experience has been a real turning point for me. Bridges is my first main app that I have put tons of time and effort behind. I have new ideas for it all the time and its where my mind is for lots of my creativity. Going from the iPhone version to the iPad was really easy and familiar. Im happy to say that bringing Bridges to the Vision Pro felt the same. Lots of code could be used or shared but there were still some changes to be made to make it feel more at home with the platform.

I think its pretty smart for Apple to launch visionOS as it has. Mostly familiar apps with 2D windows floating in your real space. Things will evolve going forward but I think this start will help ease developers into the platform. I expect in a few years we will see more 3D first apps where it makes sense. But I think the first step will be to slowly figure out this new device and platform.

So today I’m thrilled to bring Bridges to visionOS and the Apple Vision Pro. Like the Mac Bridges on visionOS is a separate app that is paid up front for $3.99. It will sync with all your data if you already have the app for iOS or macOS. It has feature parity with those apps to so you will find a familiar experience.

I its a little crazy to launch an app on hardware you don’t have. But I am really excited to see what this new platform has to offer and be one of the first apps on it. So if you have bought yourself an Apple Vision Pro and want to check out a fun new app to help you save links for later look no further!
